Super Eagles striker, Odion Ighalo has affirmed his retirement from worldwide football with Nigeria in the wake of winning the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) Golden Boot the previous evening.
The previous Watford aggressor completed the competition with five objectives in seven appearances to win the top scorer's prize in Egypt.
Taking to his Instagram page, he composed:
This is one of the most troublesome profession choices I have needed to take. It's been a stunning 5 years adventure, however after due conference and broad exchange with my family, I possess chose it's energy for me to resign from the National group.
It's has been an astounding and most important chance to serve my nation with satisfaction, enthusiasm and to contribute my share to the advancement of our football, the recollections would remain with me for quite a while and I'm massively thankful. It is currently time to focus on Club football and give the more youthful players opportunity to learn and develop.
I couldn't imagine anything better than to thank the NFF, mentor Gernot Rohr for having confidence in me against all odds,to my colleagues for their demonstrable skill and cooperation without you all I wouldn't have accomplished such a great amount with this group.
