The University of Benin Teaching Hospital (UBTH) was tossed into disarray throughout the end of the week after a patient who was on confirmation at the Accident and Emergency ward, ended it all.
As per observers, the male patient was hanging tight to see a specialist when he all of a sudden turned out to be wild and wounded himself to death with a messed up louver alongside his bed.
"The man all of a sudden turned out to be wild and broke a louver next to his window and wounded himself to death. His significant other was nowhere to be found. She went out to purchase something outside. There was blood all over the place. We were fortunate not to have been harmed'' another patient in the ward said
Affirming the episode, Mr Joshua Uwaila, the representative for the medical clinic, said the lamentable occurrence occurred at about 10pm.
"A sad episode occurred on Saturday night thirteenth July, 2019 at about 10:30 pm when a young fellow who was a patient at the male therapeutic ward of our emergency clinic (finding not uncovered for secrecy purpose), all of a sudden broke a louver and cut himself. All endeavors to revive him demonstrated unsuccessful as he was ensured dead at 11:00 pm'' he said
Uwaila included that the remaining parts of the perished has been kept in a funeral home while a post-mortem examination is required to be completed soon
