South Africa's guard dog has blamed President Cyril Ramaphosa for deluding parliament and potential illegal tax avoidance over a battle gift.

Ramaphosa has recently denied any bad behavior and his supporters state the charges made by Public Protector Busisiwe Mkhwebane are politically spurred. The outrage is viewed as a feature of a bigger power battle inside the overseeing party.

A year ago, Ramaphosa told parliament that he had not gotten decision battle gifts from a dubious neighborhood organization during his offer to lead the decision African National Congress (ANC).
