'Britain Fans Should Stop Booing Gomez'- Virgil van Dijk

Virgil van Dijk has safeguarded Liverpool colleague Joe Gomez after his line with Raheem Sterling and has called for individuals to "disregard him".

Gomez was noisily booed by some England supporters in the 7-0 win over Montenegro on Thursday, which left him crushed and administrator Gareth Southgate offering the player and his family additional help after the game.

The boos pursued a line at St George's Park on Monday when Sterling attempted to get Gomez by the neck and said "you believe you're the huge man now?" after Liverpool's 3-1 win over Manchester City.

That line prompted Southgate giving Sterling a one-game boycott after the two players had made up, which means the City forward missed the success over Montenegro and might be the motivation behind why some England fans chose to boo Gomez.

"It's frustrating to see," Van Dijk said of England supporters' treatment toward Gomez.

"I need to state also it's been managed. I figure everybody should quit discussing it since it's only a thing that occurred. They all dealt with it.

"Everybody needs to proceed onward, disregard Joe particularly. In any case, truly, it was disillusioning to see."
